Writers’ Retreats at the Centre
Introduction
The Heritage listed Katharine Susannah Prichard Writers Centre offers daily, weekly and monthly accommodation for writers wishing to find a space in which to progress a major piece of writing. The Centre funds five Writers in Residence a year (Please see the residency program pages) and rents accommodation to self-funding writers.
Opportunities exist for all writers to participate in, and contribute to, the literary activities at the Centre and in Western Australia by way of workshops, mentoring and readings.
The Katharine Susannah Prichard Writers Centre
The Centre is located in the hills east of Perth in Western Australia.
The ambience of the Centre is excellent for creativity and inspiration. 20-60,000 words are frequently achieved by our Writers in Residence in a four week stay, in between enjoying the interaction with local writers.
The Centre is partially air-conditioned, is wired in every room with Internet Broadband, and has a range of PCs with writing, publishing and scanning software.
Accommodation
The KSP Writers Centre provides three individual and self contained retreats set among the trees in the garden for writers. Each retreat can sleep two, has its own ensuite shower and toilet, is equipped with reverse cycle air conditioning, cooking facilities and has access to Internet broadband.
The furnished accommodation at the centre consists of one single bedroom and one double bedroom, shower, toilet, laundry, kitchen, sitting room and meeting room. All rooms except the bedrooms and shower are shared with writing groups who use the meeting room for approximately seven 2-hour sessions a week.
A separate writer’s retreat in the garden, where Katharine Susannah Prichard did most of her writing, is available to writers at all times.
