Maire Mhac an tSaoi was born in Dublin in 1922. Educated at University College, Dublin and the Sorbonne, she has published widely as a critic, editor and poet. Her volumes of poetry include Margadh na Saoir (1956), Codladh an Ghaiscigh (1973) and An Galar Dubhach (1980).
A selection of her poetry appeared in 1987 with the volume An cion go dti Seo.
